Marinas Presentation for CEDA Technical Seminar

A interesting presentation by Colm Sheehan entitled "Maintenance Dredging Considerations for Marina Design" was presented at the recent CEDA technical seminar at the ICE headquarters in London on the 27th of September. The presentation discussed key issues to consider when planning a new marina or developing an existing site. The various aspects to consider with respect to maintenance dredging were highlighted as:

  • Influence of Debris on Time/Cost of dredging;
  • Adequate site supervision & public relations
  • Adequate survey area coverage;
  • Pontoon layout and method of restraint;
  • Importance of Regular Sluicing;
  • Lock and gate design;
  • Future potential licensing restraints.
